GRASSLANDS

Terry Kobus

Studied Fine Art in the late seventies and has been involved in graphic design for 30yrs. He recently went back to his first love of oil painting and in the last 12 months has produced a variety of styles and sized works. From portraiture to large floral paintings each displays fine craftsmanship and execution

His passion for mountain biking has allowed an interesting synergy. Riding his bike into remote areas, camera and sketchbook ever ready, Terry has captured reference material for paintings of rural South Africa. Grasslands is a exhibition of these journal drawings, studies of Nguni cattle and paintings. From quick sketches in his journal to more detailed paintings these works captured moments in time away from city life in the grasslands of the Drakensberg.

“Because of their interesting markings Nguni Cattle make inspiring subject matter but its more that that, they are a symbol of wealth and integral part of our countries culture and heritage.” Terry Kobus
